Updated: Nov 5

As Japan's culinary mecca, the locals are food connoisseurs with a high standard. To share with you restaurants and eateries that only the locals know, here are some favorites from a local TV program Takunaru (TVQ たくなる)。

From their 11.2.24 show on Pasta.

Recommended Pasta eateries (yes, Fukuoka has added umami flavors to Italian pasta to create unique dishes!):

Pastaya Bonjourno パスタ屋ぼんじょるの

2-1-1 Hakata Ekimae, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, 812-0011

0924719455

This pasta specialty shop is conveniently opposite Hakata Station at the basement level of the Asahi Building.

Established in 1982 and specializing in original pasta recipes, their popular signature dish is East (Chinese Sichuan) and West (Italian) Chinese-styled Meat Sauce Pasta. Ground pork is marinated with a special Sichuan chilly oil to bring out special flavors. They add squids, mushrooms, chicken broth, and fresh pasta to this.

Qualia

Kitchen&Bar Qualia

SMILE-HOUSEⅡ 1F

2 Chome−1−1

Meinohama, Nishi Ward

Fukuoka 819-0002

0922100030

The next featured pasta shop is Qualia located in Meinohama. The ambiance is for both dining and enjoying drinks. Their signature dish is their take on the Ricci di mare or Sea Urchin Pasta at only JPY2580. Started in 2011, this popular dish uses top-grade Japanese uni and is intertwined with tomato cream. Just be aware that they only serve 2 servings per day but if you reserve a day before, you can be rest assured that they will have your Uni Pasta waiting for you.
